Mixed Reality Apps

Mixed Reality for Training Support and Retail

Project Details

  • Type: Mixed Reality
  • What We Did: AR toolkit
  • Tools Used: C++, WebGL, Unity
  • Started on: January 2021
  • Current version: alpha stage

Mixed reality (XR) starts with the real world: virtual objects are not just overlaid on the real world but can interact with it. In this case, a user remains in the real-world environment while digital content is added to it; moreover, a user can interact with virtual objects. This form of mixed reality can be considered an advanced form of AR.

XR helps you improve training performance, engagement and reduce costs through state-of-the-art augmented and mixed reality training technologies. Our idea is to develop a human-centered AR/XR Training Platform for processes that are otherwise, cost-prohibitive or too dangerous in the real world. Our training scenarios can be deployed anywhere, anytime to multiple trainees, saving time, money and improving situational awareness for the whole team.

– Monitoring line parameters and live view of the cameras

– Ordinary maintenance with documentation and video access

– Real-time access to the machine parameters and performances

– Remote assistance

The goals:

– Reduced skills gap: Enables maintenance tasks to be completed by more employees who do not have specialized training or knowledge

– Improved productivity: Faster time to completion for training and maintenance tasks

– Fewer errors: Reduction and even elimination of errors when completing tasks with AR-assisted guidance and learning

The retail mixed commerce heavily relies on Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality creating three-dimensional visual environments where users can manipulate the objects to see how they perform in real life. Such an experience increases the customer’s confidence and trust towards the brand.

Customer engagement

Mixed reality solutions vastly improve customer engagement and involvement. Augmented reality can help provide customers in-store navigation and help them find the products they are looking for, easily.

Create a personalized shopping experience

Retailers already realize the benefits of personalized and targeted marketing. They use personalized marketing strategies for mobile, desktop, and web shopping platforms. XR can capitalize on this marketing strategy to provide a better shopping experience to customers. Retailers can provide 3D graphic-rich content instead of a simple 2D banner. This provides for an immersive experience and increases user engagement. This may result in the increase in sales for the retailers

Employee training

Training employees is a complicated process. This exercise can prove costly if the employee makes some mistakes during the training process resulting in a financial loss for the employer. The use of XR in retail can minimize the risk involved in the training procedure.

The future of XR in retail

Augmented and Mixed Reality have already made inroads in the retail sector. Considering the benefits and ease of trade they offer, these technologies are here to stay. Major retailers across various sectors have already begun reaping the benefits of augmented reality and virtual reality technologies. The positive response of the consumers regarding these technologies will only push the industry to adopt them at their organizations more aggressively. The data generated from the technologies will help study customers’ buying patterns and preferences to provide an improved experience to the retailer as well as the consumer.
